We had such a great morning at David's parent's home. It's always so nice to have breakfast and open gifts with everyone- a family tradition. I was sad though that for some reason the famous Kathy Kaseburg cinnamon rolls did not turn out; at least we had Aunt Paula's delicious almond bread.
It was a full house with Heather's family, Heidi's family and us, not to mention Derek's parent's were in town from Boston to join our little group. What a nice couple they are!
Thad did start to get a bit cranky though with all the excitement and so we headed home for the afternoon for nap time and returned later for Christmas dinner. What a fun and busy day.

~~BABIES~~
Our extended family is growing like wild fire! This year alone we have two new additions to the family. David's cousins Chris and Kyle both welcomed new baby boys in October. This is a first child for Kyle and Kristen (Evan, Oct. 7th) and the second for Chris and Rebekah (Levi, Oct. 29th); Simon was a year in June.
I wonder who will be next...

A special haircut for Thad
Thad's first haircut went really well, so I'm not sure why he has been so unwilling to let anyone cut his hair again. We had been doing it ourselves and it just started to look too much like a "bowl haircut". So, I asked Thad if it would be okay if his auntie Heidi cut his hair. His responce was good, so we called her up.
Thad had a nice visit with his cousin Blake and got to get a very cute haircut as well. Thad was happy just feeding Blake teddy graham cookies while I held him up to watch. The boys love playing together and I really think they will be the best of friends as the years go on.

Should we get frequent flyer miles for the hospital?
Thad is actually known at Overlake Hospital. He was even given a little toy ambulance from one of the nurses on our last trip in there! I feel like we should get some kind of package deal or something. Maybe if we pre-buy four visits, we could get the fifth one free.
Thad was so sweet at the Hospital the day before Halloween. Poor kid. He was so cute though! As we left, there were about five staff members just adoring him. He told them thank you and said bye-bye. When we went to get in the chair to go, he said "sit down", and got in the chair all by himself. So I put him in the chair and they gave him his mask...you can see in the pics he was putting it on his puppy dog. He actually remembered it was used on him over his nose. They gave him a balloon that said "you're special" on it. I think he is. One of the ladies said I "hit the baby jackpot". That was so nice to hear.
Then there was the visit to the ER for his first stitches! Good thing it was October 1st and the deductable for the insurance carries over from the last 3 months of the year into the next year! One day sooner and we would have had to pay again next year...and at this rate, we may see the ER again in 2008! He is his father's son you know!

A car crashed into my office today!!!
WOW!! So the short of it because it's late and I'm very tired...
I was in one of the exam rooms with a patient this morning when I heard this strange scream, heard a loud noise and felt the floor shake under my feet...except I can't remember which order it happend in because I was so shaken up.
I left the room and ran to Tyler's office (the nurse practitioner I work with) to find him on the floor in the doorway obviously shaken up. I can't actually recall how it all took place now, it happend so fast. All I remember is asking if he was okay and trying to figure out what happend. Turned out Tyler was sitting at his desk when he heard a loud screaching sound and looked up out the window in front of his desk to see a car coming right at him. That was when he screamed, tried to jump back and get out of the way, and ended up thrown against the desk behind him and then onto the floor.
Tyler was okay. Just a couple of bruses, nothing too bad, we all hope. Turns out an elderly man (actually Tyler's 9:45!) got confussed and hit the gas instead of the brake and ended up crashing into the building!! What a morning!

Thad's "big boy" bed, The pumpkin patch, and Halloween
So much has been going on...
Not only did Thad move out his crib into his big boy bed, but we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, and celebrated Halloween with some of the family.
Here are some great pics of the action!
Thad in his new bed
Sound asleep the first night. You know, I actually think he sleeps better in a bed than he did in his crib.
Thad looking for the perfect pumpkin
Found it!!
HALLOWEEN NIGHT!!
Thad with his wonderful babysitter Terri!! He loves her so much- we ALL do!
Thad and cousin Blake. We had dinner with David's sis Heidi and her family along with Grandma and Grandpa Kaseburg before heading off to do a little Trick-or-treat.
Thad only made it to see Terri and was out. He had a rough day the day before, and just needed to rest.

Funny Things...
Blue hair...
We went to the Puyallup Fair last month and I had the great idea that we should get Thad's hair colored. Not such a good idea. Poor kid, did not like it. Was upset the whole time the gal was putting the color in. We did get a lot of compliments though!
Binkies...
Thad was at the table and wanted to play with his container of spoons and forks..I also keep binkies in it. We looked over and just had to take a picture of this...David felt he had to "show him up". I think David won for most binkies in the mouth at once.
You know, he looks so much like his cousin Mason in this picture, strong family genes!
The butt...
I just love the "Butt" pictures too!! I must have a hundred like this...Just thought I'd share one! Enjoy!!

Anniversary Trip, More fun & Thad's first Stitches!
We got back yesterday from our trip to Port Townsend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Great fun! I think we picked the perfect place. So romantic. First, the bed and breakfast we stayed at was fantastic!! The James House was the first B&B in the Pacific Northwest and the past 12 years in row has been voted the best in Washington. I just knew we would not be disappointed. We stayed in the Master/Bridal suite, which had a seperate sitting room with a great view! On Sunday evening we had massages in the sitting room. So relaxing. It was great to have the alone time together without Thad needing us every second. He had fun with Grandma Kaseburg, he never even knew we were gone. I missed him so much, but I knew how much we needed this getaway together. Well worth it! We may just do it again sometime..
Breakfast in the morning at the James House is so wonderful...
We had mimosas and tea/coffee in the morning in our room after breakfast on Monday before we headed out to go back home.
The breathtaking view
The garden view from our room
We kept going back to this funny pub that was right down the hill on the water called Water Street Brewing & Ale House. We loved the food and David (through our many trips in there) got to try every brew they made. I myself was quite fond of the pear cider. Just before we left town we made our last stop lunch on the patio in the back. Note: they have the BEST fish & chips ever, especially the tarter sauce.
Thad and I had a great day together before David and I left for our trip. We went to a group play at an indoor facility in Issaquah where we had fun for a couple of hours before we went on to the swimming pool where Thad spent over an hour in the water. He did not want to leave! We did have to get going though because we had a nap to get to and a playdate with our moms group in the afternoon for some fun time in the park. Thad just loves our moms group we go to. We have met so many fun moms and kids. He was not even bothered by the fact that he was sporting his first set of stitches! Three to be exact. We were getting ready for bed on Monday night, (Oct. 1st, why not start October out right, eah?) David was playing with Thad in the living room and he was running around like a wild man. He tripped over his slide and went flying into (yes, again) the corner of the wall! This time there was blood. My poor little guy! I got an ice pack fast. After just a bit, we just decided we should take him to the ER. After he slept through the stitches, the doc said we should probably go ahead with a CT of his head. We agreed. It was fine, but better safe than sorry. We slept better knowing he was okay too. I am almost certain this will not be the last time he gets stitches.
Like father, like son.

An eventful day
We had such a great day on Thursday!
Thad's aunt Heidi told us about a movie that they put on for kids and parents at Lincoln square in Bellevue on Thursdays, so we went to that in the morning. It was his first movie at a theater. We saw Ratatouilli, very cute. Thad had a great time! He ran up and down the stairs and back and forth on the landing where we were sitting. He took a liking to a little girl who had just started walking. It was so cute.
Since we were right there, I figured we could walk over to the Bell Square Mall and walk around a little. We decided to play on the boat for a while too. There we ran into Kim and her little girl Silvia! What a treat! David has known Kim and her husband Dave for a long time. We haven't seen them in quite a while. We caught up a bit, Kim told me they are expecting another little one next year!
Later when we got home, I got a text message from Marjory (a friend David has known since highschool). She was right down the road at the beach park, so we went down for a visit. It was nice to see her and her little boy, Zoltan. We haven't seen them since spring break last April.
Enjoy the slide of our fun filled day!! ........

More thoughts on how BRILLIANT Thad is!!
My boy has got to be my smartest child!! (HA! He's my ONLY child!)
He just impresses me so much with the things he does. I don't know becasue I really have no basis for comparison, but I think he is doing things a bit faster than would be considered "on schedule".
He is 20 months now, and is singing the ABC song, counting, and he knows his shapes! His Grandma Kaseburg(Kathy) got him a shape sorter for his birthday that has been just so much fun! He now can put all five shapes (star, circle, square, triangle, and hexagon) into the correct slots! He even tells me what colors they are, most of the time;)
Well, I better get back to playing with this little man...who knows what he'll show me next!
